Mechanical engineering relates to the design and manufacture of mechanical systems – such as those used to power vehicles, industrial equipment and production lines, medical technologies and military equipment. Further specializations within this field include robotics, thermodynamics, technical drawing, nanotechnology and structural analysis.

Mechanical engineers are committed to the use of technology to improve the quality of life for society. Mechanical engineering covers a broad range of subjects. Many mechanical engineers specialize in areas such as materials, dynamics and controls, product design, manufacturing, energy and thermodynamics, and mechanics.

The focus of the department is to offer quality education in the specialized fields of Design, Manufacturing, Thermal and Materials engineering.

Getting Started

Student should have passed 2nd PUC /12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects.

In case of candidates belonging to Karnataka Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and other Backward Classes (Category I, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination.
